MFI Spotlight Film Series
A curated cinema showcase that REDEFINES the festival experience.
Formally known and presented since 2016 as the Monmouth Film Festival (MFF), the Monmouth Film Institute now invites filmmakers of all backgrounds to submit their work for consideration in our annual film screening event, the Spotlight Cinema Showcase.

At the Monmouth Film Institute, we recognize that most film festivals focus on quantity over quality, creating competitive screening environments where filmmakers do not receive the recognition or opportunities they deserve. Here's how we're different from the rest...

We present highly curated film programs throughout the year, spotlighting top-grade cinema and fostering a high-caliber screening environment where filmmakers of similar excellence share the silver screen. Each program is thoughtfully designed to build recognition for outstanding work while connecting creators with the industry’s true decision-makers—producers, distributors, studios, and representatives from leading streaming platforms such as Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, YouTube, Apple TV+, Disney+, and more.

This is more than watching your film on the big screen—it’s an opportunity to express yourself as an artist and be part of the northeast’s most curated and respected film showcase. We welcome submissions of films of all genres, lengths, and categories to highlight the rich diversity of voices and stories in today’s cinema.

Selected films will be featured in our spotlight showcases throughout the year, each carefully curated and programmed by our esteemed jury. These showcases are designed to engage film lovers, inspire fellow filmmakers, and capture the attention of studios, distributors, and industry executives.

Whether you’re a first-time filmmaker or an established creator, our showcase provides a platform to share your vision, connect with audiences, and take your work to the next level.
