Founded in 2016, the Monmouth Film Festival quickly became a celebrated platform for independent cinema, known for its commitment to artistic excellence and authentic storytelling. To expand upon that vision and deepen its impact, the Monmouth Film Institute (MFI) was established in early 2022 as a 501(c)(3) New Jersey nonprofit organization, serving as the new home of the film festival and broadening its mission to foster film appreciation, discovery, and education year-round.

Through a wide range of workshops, seminars, community programs, and special screenings, MFI provides accessible, high-quality instruction and hands-on learning opportunities for filmmakers and film enthusiasts alike. Our initiatives aim to bridge the gap for aspiring creators who may not have access to traditional film schools, while continuing to champion independent storytellers and connect them directly with audiences and industry professionals.
