The 2026 Monmouth Film Festival (MFF) is proud to spotlight one of the most dynamic and often under appreciated forms of filmmaking—short films. This year’s Shorts Series features 47 short films across five curated blocks of storytelling that span documentary, drama, comedy, animation, and experimental work, each offering a distinct voice and creative perspective.
Kicking off Friday, May 29 through Sunday, May 31 at Bell Works in Holmdel, NJ, these thoughtfully assembled showcases highlight emerging talent and compelling stories that prove powerful storytelling doesn’t require a long runtime.

Stories of connection and identity unfold in Lucia & Nicole, while Ink or Dye offers an inspiring portrait of resilience and second chances.

The block continues with the inventive animated metaphor Split!, the darkly comedic heist reflection Tomorrow’s Bandits, and the experimental emotional journey Cooped Up. Rounding out the program is Clean Slate, a sharp dark comedy exploring truth, perception, and consequence.
